There is no better time to eat and socialize than during the month of June, and on Saturday the 13th, “June was bustin’ out all over” on 54th street. The 3rd annual Taste of Sutton served up one of the most memorable events with a wide variety of restaurants and other establishments.

It’s no secret that the Sutton Area has a remarkable food scene and this was beautifully demonstrated at the festival. Taste of Sutton was filled with throngs of people mingling and sampling all of the wonderful morsels, as well as learning more about our neighborhood businesses.

Children were having a good time not only tasting the food but also exploring a fire truck with our local fire fighters. Everyone was entertained by both adult and young dancers from the 54th Street Recreation Center under the direction of Barney Webster.

Sponsors, restaurants and other vendors, who graciously volunteered their time and offered a wide variety of samples, were: The City of NY Parks and Recreation Center; 212 Steakhouse; Bistro Vendôme; Bloom’s Tavern; Complete Body and Spa; Crave Fishbar; CSA; Da Noi; Eat Food; Éclair; Ethos; Grown Up Soda (GUS); Home Instead; Il Falco; Insomnia Cookies; Jersey Mikes; Jubilee; La Villetta; Le Pain Quotidien; Morso; Mt. Vernon Hotel; Neary’s; Paname; Rosa Mexicana; Sutton Café; Sutton Inn; Sutton Place Chiropractors; Sutton Place Physical Therapy; TD Bank; Toll Brothers; Tiella; Verizon; Whole Foods; Yo Yoga; local firefighters from Engine 8/Ladder 2.

Council Member Ben Kallos showed his continued support for our community by attending Taste of Sutton. He has been a great partner with the Sutton Area Community by carefully listening to us, taking our concerns to heart and working directly on improving our community.

On the eve of the Taste of Sutton event, NBC News 4 at 7:00pm reporter Roseanne Colletti interviewed SAC Special Events Chair Joanne Satin and Todd Mitgang, Chef of Crave Fishbar. This lifestyle segment highlighted SAC’s neighborhood annual summer fair. A special thank you goes to Joanne Satin, Zain Hasan, and Josselyne Herman, organizers of Taste, and Kate McGrath for the publicity; and Dieter Seelig for his high involvement throughout. Also, this event would not have been possible without all of the SAC and student volunteers.
