Politico Bill calls for single sign-on to online city services by Miranda Neubauer
All online city services would be accessible through a single sign-on interface under legislation Councilman Ben Kallos plans to introduce Wednesday.
The proposal calls on the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications to make it possible to use just one username and password to log in to a My.NYC.gov website or a mobile application.
Currently services that require separate log-ins include the affordable housing portal Housing Connect, the Civil Service Online Application System, the WorkForce1 private sector employment system, the Access NYC system to apply for benefits including SNAP, the Small Business applications, payments and requests system Accela Citizen Access, Notify NYC as well as Tax, Fine and Water Charge Payments.
“Small businesses and residents shouldn’t need a laundry list of logins and passwords just to be a New Yorker," Kallos said in a statement.
